Jennie Zeppettelli was a travel agent living in San Anselmo, California. She had a five year long affair with former San Francisco Police Commissioner Harry Ashcombe. Every year they would celebrate their anniversary with an expensive bottle of Beaujolais wine. Harry liked to buy Jennie expensive gifts, including bottles of Shalimar perfume.
Sometime in the summer of 2001, Jennie became pregnant with Harry's child. Harry forced Jennie to have an abortion. That, combined with Harry's need to live the affluent lifestyle afforded by his hated wife, Katherine Ashcombe, was enough to convince Jennie to "wife up." She broke off the affair, but Harry kept calling her and sending her gifts (all of which she sent back).
In early 2002, Katherine Ashcombe died in a car accident when her car veered off a cliff. While officially ruled an accident, Jennie had suspicions that Harry might be responsible, knowing he had a violent temper. A few days later, she was contacted by Adrian Monk, who had similar suspicions. After confirming her affair and her fear of Harry to Monk, she was contacted again to help him get evidence that Harry had indeed murdered his wife. With the help of local police and a phony psychic named Dolly Flint, Monk staged a fake murder scene at Ashcombe's house with Jennie as the purported victim. The trap worked and Harry implicated himself in Katherine's murder. Jennie revealed herself alive and well and happy to have done her part to put Harry behind bars. (Monk: "Mr. Monk and the Psychic")
