Daniel Reese is a former Prison Guard.
Biography[]
Sometime before 2009, Daniel began in affair with prison volunteer Lindsey Bishop. For unknown reasons (likely Lindsey threatening to tell his wife about their affair if he didn't leave his wife for her), Daniel decided to murder her.
When getting in her car at the Bayside Correctional Facility, Daniel murdered Lindsey with a knife from his own house. He planned to frame an inmate, Norman "Shiv" Logan, by helping him escape. Once Logan had reached the parking lot, Reese planned to shoot him dead and thus make it looked like Bishop surprised Shiv and was killed by him.
However, inmate and con man Jack Monk Jr. knocked out Shiv and escaped instead. Monk got into the parking lot and Reese, in position in a guard tower, fired at him, only for him to escape. This still achieved Reese's goal of looking like an escape gone wrong, but in order to avoid the possibility of Shiv being traced back to him as well as Jack's escape, he later murdered Shiv with his namesake weapon.
Adrian Monk and Jack went to see Linda Bishop's house to look around, and found Reese there. They talked to him for a little bit and left.
Later, when Monk, Natalie, and Jack went to see him, they noticed the spoon he was eating ice cream with was from the same set as the shiv used to kill Lindsey. When the trio attempted to leave he started shooting at them from atop the roof. They hid behind a shelf, and Jack used Monk's gun to return fire, which he snuck out of Monk's apartment. When the shelf collapsed, Monk and Natalie hid behind a woodpile. Jack got Natalie to give him her keys to her car so he could call the police, but instead he took off. Daniel came down to shoot Monk and Natalie at close range, when suddenly the car burst through a fence and hit Daniel, knocking him out. He was later taken to prison after confessing to both murders.
