Clarence Stanton was a judge murdered in 2009.
When mafia boss Salvatore Lucarelli was finally indicted, Stanton was designated to hear his trial. Before trial, however, Stanton was shot dead while jogging in Golden Gate Park. Lucarelli was the obvious suspect, but swore he was innocent.
In fact, the killer was Rhonda Carnegie, the wife of another judge, Alan Carnegie. Rhonda's sole motive in killing Stanton was to misdirect the police about the motive for the murder of her own husband, which she carried out a short time later. Since Carnegie was the designated alternate to hear Lucarelli's case, Lucarelli's guilt seemed even more certain. However, Adrian Monk eventually tracked down and identified Rhonda as the killer of both men.
